Kolache Factory giving hiring bonuses

Kolache Factory, a Texas-based fast casual serving Czech-inspired pastries, is launching an aggressive hiring campaign this month and enticing new and current employees with cash. Its "We Want You" campaign offers a $250 signing bonus for successful new full-time employees and the existing employees who refer them. New part-time employees — and referrals for them — will receive a $100 signing bonus.

"We love our employees, and we want everyone to know it! That's why our "We Want You" hiring campaign is rewarding both new and existing employees," Dawn Nielsen, chief operating officer, said in a company press release "We are excited to offer this great employment opportunity to people looking for full or part time work at one of our bakeries. Our customers have been so loyal during the pandemic, and we will do everything we can to give them a fabulous Kolache Factory experience and contribute to getting the economy moving at full force."

Although the pandemic has taken its toll on everyone, one of the biggest casualties has turned out to be a workforce shortage. According to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, there were more than 9 million job openings in the United States, and the biggest increase in job openings in the last month was in foodservice. The National Restaurant Association reported that the industry was still 1.5 million jobs below pre-pandemic levels. Even though customers are ready to come back, more than 90% of state and local chambers said a lack of workers was holding back economic growth.

The Kolache Factory is hoping to add 100 employees in June. The 39-year-old family company is offering early shift hours as well as flexible hours, health benefits, Telehealth, paid vacation and discounts on food, according to the release.
